In recent years, seismic metamaterials (SMs) have attracted considerable attention for their capacity to manipulate wave propagation. Unlike conventional mitigation methods, SMs offer broader applicability and enhanced energy absorption capabilities. Despite the burgeoning interest in SM research, focus has predominantly been on design of unit cells. The introduction layout pattern design, a novel strategy achieve superior shielding performance, proven effective enhancing protection infrastructures. However, existing research primarily centers graded with linear layouts, neglecting exploration more intricate patterns. To bridge this gap, study proposes hierarchical that integrates embedded cell three patterns including one two polynomial Subsequently, frequency domain analysis (FDA) method is developed assess attenuation performances proposed SMs. results demonstrate compared non-graded SM, exhibit elevated capabilities, suggesting potentials advanced reduction.

Metamaterials with bandgap properties have been widely studied and applied in the attenuation of surface bulk waves propagating soil. However, most studies consider soil as isotropic medium ignore general anisotropy property from practical point view. In this work, we transversely constitutive model propose a cross-like metamaterial consisting concrete inclusion rubber coating to achieve broadband for omnidirectional waves. The proposed metamaterials more wider bandgaps compared circle square metamaterials, they better wave performance higher degrees anisotropy. transmission spectra demonstrate effect bandgaps. Furthermore, build full-scale considering subway tunnel condition frequency time domains. We also find that larger depth region will enhance while viscosity can overall ranges. variations thickness, geometric parameters, hollow sizes are discussed. This study presents an appropriate way design soil, which be easily extended other anisotropic media.
