Novel iron oxide-incorporated porous polydimethylsiloxane sponges were developed using a simple, non-toxic two-step process. Characterized through various techniques, these serve as effective photocatalysts, absorbents, and adsorbents for pollutant removal. They demonstrated nearly 100% degradation of rhodamine B under optimal conditions ( ~ with Xe arc lamp, 50 mg, pH 3-9, 4 h), following pseudo second-order kinetic model (r2 = 0.9999). The also exhibited good activity other pollutants, including methylene blue (76–87%), 1,4-dichlorobenzene (57–71%), azithromycin (82–87%), maintained high performance over 11 reuse cycles minimal loss. In addition, fresh used catalysts effectively separated oils (173–680 mg absorbent, 10–15 s) chromium (VI) [~87% 1 ppm, 7, 24 h] from water. This environmentally sustainable approach produces no toxic waste allows simple regeneration, making it promising solution the water treatment industry.

In recent years, photocatalytic materials with a nanofiber-like morphology have garnered surge of academic attention due to their distinctive properties, including an expansive specific surface area, considerable high aspect ratio, pronounced resistance agglomeration, superior electron survivability, and robust activity. Consequently, the synthesis nanofiber through various methodologies has drawn attention. The electrospinning technique been established as prevalent method for fabricating nanofiber-structured materials, owing its advantageous ability mass production assurance continuity. This review focuses on metal oxide semiconductor-based which are crucial components photocatalysts. We summarize several studies that explore modulation, modification, element doping, composite construction using uniaxial coaxial techniques. Finally, we present potential approaches constructing high-activity systems technique.
