Understanding the role of aberrant salience (AS) in psychosis is crucial for comprehending schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSDs). Researchers emphasize importance attribution schizophrenia, acknowledging its interaction with environmental stressors and multiple neurotransmitter systems. Childhood trauma adversities (CTA) play a significant SSDs, potentially contributing to prodromal symptoms characterized by AS. While empirical evidence supports relationship between AS SSD, interplay different patterns, CTA, psychotic remains unclear. Clinical diagnosis followed DSM-5 criteria, participants completed assessments including Aberrant Salience Inventory (ASI), Trauma Questionnaire – Short form (CTQ-SF), Positive Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS). Latent profile analysis (LPA) was employed identify distinct profiles within sample, subsequent analyses examining differences psychopathological variables among these profiles. Among 262 participants, four emerged from LPA: low AS, high severe intermediate sexual abuse correlation, chronic specific childhood associations. Profile distinctions included age, hospitalizations, symptoms, CTA. Logistic regression showed associations emotional abuse, physical neglect clinical variables. Subtyping individuals SSD based on revealed profiles, each unique characteristics Future studies should investigate whether correspond diverse treatment outcomes. These findings highlight complexity presentation underscore considering individualized diagnostic therapeutic approaches.

The predictive coding framework postulates that the human brain continuously generates predictions about environment, maximizing successes and minimizing failures based on prior experiences beliefs. This PRISMA-compliant systematic review aims to comprehensively transdiagnostically examine differences in between individuals with neuropsychiatric disorders healthy controls. We included 72 case-control studies investigating as primary outcome reporting behavioral, neuroimaging, or electrophysiological findings. Thirty-three articles investigated schizophrenia spectrum, 33 neurodevelopmental disorders, 5 mood 4 neurocognitive 1 post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders. Oddball oddball-like paradigms were most frequently used quantify performance. Evidence showed heterogeneous impairments abilities of across particularly autism. Patients within spectrum a consistent pattern impaired non-social coding. Conversely, deficits more selective for social cues autism spectrum. Predictive correlated clinical symptom severity. These findings underscore potential utility understanding cognitive dysfunctions population, even though evidence is needed underexplored conditions, also considering confounders such medication sex/gender. role determinant treatment response may be considered tailor personalized interventions.
