In recent years, superhydrophobic coatings have attracted much attention due to their excellent water repellency and self-cleaning properties. They broad application prospects in improving the performance durability of sports equipment (such as clothing, footwear, balls, protective equipment). Recent studies shown that these can improve repellency, reduce friction, enhance traction, extend service life by preventing absorption reducing dirt accumulation. Despite potential, practical still faces many challenges, including difficulties coating preparation, limited long-term durability, high production costs prevent large-scale production. This paper begins with an analysis current status equipment, from theory application, basic Young’s model novel Contact Line Pinning Model, analyzing advantages disadvantages several methods some aspects, focusing on most commonly used preparation methods, template method, gel–gel deposition etc., objectively match appropriate applications. advances, there are significant gaps understanding under real-world conditions. The concludes identifying future research directions, a focus wear resistance, cost-effectiveness, assessing environmental impact materials. These insights will contribute continued development field equipment.
