Abstract Background Intervention for older patients with cardiac disease and subthreshold depression (StD) may be an effective strategy to prevent the development of major depressive disorder. The subliminal priming supraliminal reward stimulation (SPSRS) website developed by us is advanced intervention that can improve symptoms in individuals StD presenting positive word stimuli videos. However, its efficacy treating has not been investigated. Here, we present a pilot randomized controlled trial protocol investigate preliminary StD. Methods study was designed as single-center, open-label, pilot, randomized, parallel-group trial. participants will include 30 who are hospitalized acute wards. Experimental group received SPSRS (video viewing stimuli; n = 15) Control receive YouTube without 15). In both groups, administered 10 min per day, five times week 1 week. primary outcome change scores on Japanese version Beck Depression Inventory-II at after baseline assessment. secondary outcomes changes Specific Activity Scale, New York Heart Association functional classification, well grip strength Discussion This first evaluate admitted results provide tentative indications regarding impact among wards, contribute planning full-scale study.
