Abstract Interpersonal functioning is a common concern for people with postttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) but not key target of most trauma‐focused psychotherapies (TFPs). We preregistered and undertook systematic review meta‐analysis randomized clinical trials (RCTs) examining the efficacy TFPs improving interpersonal functioning. Studies were identified through PTSD Trials Standardized Data Repository, scholarly databases, solicitation unpublished data from research community following current PRISMA guidelines. used random effects to estimate within‐group change (i.e., pre‐ posttreatment) in Meta‐analytic findings yielded medium total effect TFP on functioning, g = 0.54, 95% CI [0.37, 0.72], high between‐study heterogeneity. Sensitivity analyses substantively equivalent point estimates when outliers excluded, 0.55, only well‐established individual included, 0.57. In contrast, allocation control condition was associated little average 0.04 [‐0.12, 0.21]. Formal tests did yield clear evidence publication bias. Bias‐corrected varied centered around , s 0.41–1.11. There medium‐to‐large association between symptoms, r ‐.35–‐.44. The extant literature small heterogeneous, indicating need more focused attention this outcome. Results suggest that, average, are moderately efficacious functioning; however, additional treatment may be needed meet desired level improvement

Abstract This longitudinal study explored associations between communication resilience processes, job-search self-efficacy, and well-being for a sample of US adults who involuntarily lost their jobs during the second wave COVID-19 pandemic. Based on theory (CTR), we tested four possible models regarding how enactment processes would be associated with self-efficacy over time. Participants (N = 595) described job loss story completed measures (perceived stress, mental health, life satisfaction) in February 2021, then again 2 4 months later. Findings from random intercept cross-lagged panel analyses suggested that after accounting between-person associations, shared significant within-person reciprocal relationships perceived health Theoretical implications CTR, future directions research, practical supporting diverse seekers are discussed.

A meta-analysis conducted by Harris and Orth (2020) found positive prospective cross-lagged effects between quality of social relations self-esteem in included longitudinal studies. concluded that the link is reciprocal characterized a feedback loop. However, meta-analytic were estimated while controlling for prior measurement outcome such are known to be susceptible artifactual (i.e. spurious) due correlations with errors reversion mediocrity. We reanalyzed same data paradoxical indicating, simultaneously, both increasing decreasing relations. These findings suggest rather than true effect. Thus, these have important theoretical implications challenge risk regulation model, which posits has causal effect on relations, sociometer theory, claims cause The present results prompt further investigation into underlying mechanisms driving associations. Additionally, study highlights importance considering methodological limitations future meta-analyses improve accuracy inferences.
