ABSTRACT Meditation is an accessible mental practice associated with emotional regulation and well-being. Loving-kindness meditation (LKM), a specific sub-type of meditative practice, involves focusing one’s attention on thoughts well-being for oneself others. has been proven to be beneficial in variety settings, including therapeutical applications, but the neural activity underlying practices their positive effects are not well understood. In particular, it’s difficult understand contribution deep limbic structures given difficulty studying directly human brain. Here, we leverage unique patient population, epilepsy patients chronically implanted responsive neurostimulation device that allow chronic, invasive electrophysiology recording investigate physiological correlates loving-kindness amygdala hippocampus novice meditators. We find LKM-associated changes periodic, aperiodic, features activity.
