This work presents results on the efficiency of newly designed zinc phthalocyanine-mediated photodynamic therapy both tumoral and nontumoral cell models using MTT assay. Further detailed examinations mechanistic biological effects were focused HELA cervical cancer model. Here, ROS production, changes in mitochondrial membrane potential, determination genotoxicity, protein determined by capillary chromatography tandem mass spectrometry with ESI analyzed. The showed that, vitro, 5 Jcm−2 ZnPc PDT caused a significant increase reactive oxygen species. DNA impairment assessed an increased fragmentation, might be related decreased DDB1 (decrease 20% post-therapy), responsible maintaining genomic integrity triggering repair pathways. Considering these low effective concentration (LC50 = 30 nM), used is potentially very promising antitumoral treatment.
