Sublethal Effects of Chlorantraniliprole on the Mobility Patterns of Sitophilus spp.: Implications for Pest Management

Chlorantraniliprole,
an
anthranilic
diamide
insecticide,
has
emerged
as
a
promising
solution
for
controlling
agricultural
pests
because
of
its
low
mammalian
toxicity
and
selectivity
towards
non-target
organisms.
This
study
investigated
the
sublethal
effects
chlorantraniliprole
on
mobility
behavior
two
significant
stored-product
pests,
Sitophilus
oryzae
(L.)
zeamais
Motschulsky
(Coleoptera:
Curculionidae).
Contact
assays
revealed
varying
susceptibility
levels
between
species,
with
S.
showing
higher
sensitivity.
Subsequent
analysis
behavior,
both
in
presence
absence
food,
indicated
differences
chlorantraniliprole-exposed
control
groups.
While
exhibited
altered
locomotion
patterns
decreased
number
food
approaches
at
concentrations,
displayed
increased
walking
time
reduced
immobility
periods.
These
findings
highlight
importance
considering
understanding
overall
impact
pests.
Further
research
into
long-term
consequences
exposure
is
warranted
to
inform
more
effective
pest
management
strategies
storage.

Abstract
Nesidiocoris
tenuis
(Reuter)
(Heteroptera
Miridae)
is
a
key
biological
control
agent
of
the
tomato
leaf
miner
Tuta
absoluta
(Meyrick).
However,
in
cases
prey
scarcity,
this
predator
switches
into
phytophagous
pest
causing
ring
injuries
stems
plants.
The
aim
study
was
to
assess
side
effects
dry
residues
and
explore
presence
target
site
resistance
mutations
10
insecticides,
two
bioinsecticides,
an
acaricide
fungicide
widely
applied
IPM,
on
adults
N.
collected
from
different
regions
Crete;
Western
Eastern
island
during
successive
years.
Lethal
toxicity
trials
were
performed
sprayed
recorded

days
after
exposure.
At
both
populations,
chlorpyrifos,
acetamiprid
thiamethoxam
moderately
harmful
at

Only
chlorpyrifos
maintained
its

Additionally,
analysis
insecticide
sequences
indicated
absence
populations.
Overall,
our
findings
illustrate
impact

their
residual
mortality
rates
adults.
