Water quality in rivers is deteriorating urban and rural areas due to natural anthropogenic factors. Understanding how changes factors affect river water crucial for managing basins. This review focuses on analyzing key affecting quality, the temporal spatial variations of flowing areas. Natural processes such as weathering rocks, evapotranspiration, atmospheric deposition, climate change, disasters cause water. Anthropogenic could stem from industrial effluents, domestic activities, agricultural activities application fertilizers, manures, pesticides, animal husbandry irrigation practices, deforestation, aquaculture. The seasonal are discussed, land use or cover parameters a negative positive way. In addition traditional contaminants biodegradable organic matter, heavy metals, pathogens, emerging persistent pollutants organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), perfluoroalkyl polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), phamaceutic active compounds (PhACs) has been found many rivers, which pose threat human health. comparison also clarified, provides authorities policymakers with deep understanding supports decision-making sustainable management.

Climate change, global population growth, and rising standards of living have put immense strain on natural resources, resulting in the unsecured availability water as an existential resource. Access to high-quality drinking is crucial for daily life, food production, industry, nature. However, demand freshwater resources exceeds available supply, making it essential utilize all alternative such desalination brackish water, seawater, wastewater. Reverse osmosis a highly efficient method increase supplies make clean, affordable accessible millions people. ensure universal access various measures need be implemented, including centralized governance, educational campaigns, improvements catchment harvesting technologies, infrastructure development, irrigation agricultural practices, pollution control, investments novel transboundary cooperation. This paper provides comprehensive overview utilizing sources, with particular emphasis seawater wastewater reclamation techniques. In particular, membrane-based technologies are critically reviewed, focus their energy consumption, costs, environmental impacts.

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) hold great promise in the removal of organic contaminants. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced AOPs react with target pollutants to initially form several intermediate compounds that finally undergo complete mineralization. Such observations are reported, especially for laboratory-scale experiments performed pure water. On other hand, while considering real contaminated wastewater matrices, particularly industrial effluents, there many co-existing ions. Carbonate ions one major inorganic commonly existing water resources. Hence, these have a significant impact on respective treatment processes. This review focused effect carbonate degradation AOPs. In AOPs, radicals formed by scavenging reaction ROS. The reactivity towards pollutant varies respect structure and functionality. Therefore, depending functionalities contaminants, show both positive negative effects. Thus, this aims summarize effects contaminants during their environmental impacts. carbonates enhanced emerging pollutants, including aniline, bisphenol A, rhodamine B, acid orange 7, naphthalene, phenol derivatives. presence was also revealed contribution cases drug degradation, sulfamethoxazole, propranolol, sulfamethazine, salbutamol, trimethoprim, azithromycin, naproxen, oxcarbazepine, oxytetracycline.
