The unrestricted use of the organophosphate insecticide chlorpyrifos in agriculture causes environmental pollution and poses a major threat to world population. In present study, bacteria were isolated from rhizosphere chili plant. bacterial strains have plant growth promoting traits. Among strains, eight produced ammonia, seven fixed N2, nine indole-3-acetic acid, siderophore. laccase, lignin peroxidase, dechlorinase, manganese peroxidase. K02, L4, grown culture medium containing significantly degraded chlorpyrifos. Based on morphology, biochemicals, 16S rDNA sequencing, these identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa K02 Bacillus cereus L4. Chlorpyrifos degradation was performed by co-cultivation P. B. cereus. These two incubated for 72 h at various concentrations, pH values between 7.0 8.0, inoculum concentrations. selected consortia 98.2±1.1% after optimized conditions.
