Nature reserves are not isolated. They exist in the context of broader landscape mosaics, and surroundings a reserve may contain threat to biodiversity within them. However, research on ecological risk driving factors China's nature limited. Based Landscape Ecological Risk Index we estimated 668 across levels, climatic zones, ecosystem type from 1990 2020, at five-year intervals. We also explored how human activities climate affected spatial heterogeneity temporal change reserves. Our results showed that overall has decreased over past three decades, with most pronounced decline between 2000. The coastline increased, however, while other types decreased. Abstract Designating protected and conserved areas is a critical component of biodiversity conservation. The 10th Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in 2010 set global targets for the areal extent (PAs) that were met partially 2020, yet new, more ambitious target needed to halt ongoing loss. China recently introduced national Ecological Conservation Redline policy, which aims ensure no net change land cover loss or degradation ecosystem services within are maintaining ecological safety functions. Enacting this policy could achieve ancillary conservation outcomes even where not primary objective, thus meeting CBD's definition “other effective area‐based measures” (OECM). By comparing boundaries with important coastal waterbird sites China, we found three times be under new redline compared nature reserve system alone. This indicates considering approach as form OECM promising pathway expand coverage PAs conserve outside currently designated PAs, providing model adopted around world.

Ecological representativeness of protected area networks is essential for leveraging areas to achieve conservation goals. On the basis China’s vegetation map and spatial data areas, we analyze network in protecting distinct types terrestrial natural ecosystems. Across major ecosystem classes, wetland, alpine tundra, grassland have more than 20% their being protected, while shrub, forest, desert are less covered by areas. At level subclass, 90.2% 691 ecosystems at least some but rarest (i.e., land 100 km 2 ), about half were poorly 5% extents protected). A small percentage (14.7%) with high human pressure included whereas 27% lowest intensity occurs To enhance ecological suggest strengthening protection underrepresented ecosystems, especially those exposed pressure, expanding delineating redlines.

The Northeast Tiger-Leopard National Park (NTLNP) in China is an area of great ecological significance, known for its abundant wilderness resources and biodiversity. However, the habitats NTLNP have been threatened by historical land use cover (LULC) changes caused urban expansion economic development. In response to this challenge, study based on remote sensing-derived LULC products from 2005 2020, utilized equivalent factors refined ecosystem service values (ESV) assessment model, conjunction with Moran's I Getis-Ord Gi* spatial analysis methods evaluate macro-scale pixel-scale spatio-temporal dynamics ESV NTLNP.
