Understanding the processes and consequences of morphological diversity organisms is one major goals evolutionary biology. Studies on evolution developmental mechanisms morphologies, or evo-devo, have been extensively conducted in many taxa revealed interesting phenomena at molecular level. However, other exhibiting intriguing remain unexplored field evo-devo. Although annelid family Syllidae shows spectacular development associated with reproduction, its evo-devo study, especially development, has progressed slowly. In this we focused Megasyllis nipponica as a new model species for syllids performed transcriptome sequencing to develop massive genetic resource, which will be useful future studies. From data, identified candidate genes that are likely involved morphogenesis, including hormone regulation, sex determination appendage development. Furthermore, computational analysis sequence data indicated occurrence DNA methylation coding regions M. genome. addition, flow cytometry showed genome size was approximately 524 megabases. These results facilitate study morphogenesis terms contribute our understanding syllids.

Abstract Compound eyes formation in decapod crustaceans occurs after the nauplius stage. However, key genes and regulatory mechanisms of compound eye development during crustacean embryonic have not yet been clarified. Abstract Molting is a defining feature of the most species-rich animal taxa, Ecdysozoa, including arthropods, tardigrades, nematodes, and others. In pancrustaceans, such as insects decapods, molting regulated by ecdysteroid (Ecd) hormone its downstream cascade. However, whether regulation predates emergence arthropods represents an ancestral machinery ecdysozoans remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated role Ecd in process tardigrade Hypsibius exemplaris . We show that endogenous level periodically increases during cycle H. The pulse treatment with exogenous induced while antagonist receptor suppressed molting. Our spatial temporal gene expression analysis revealed putative regulatory organs cascades. demonstrate hormone, supporting ancestry Ecd-dependent panarthropods. Further, were able to identify neural center which may represent state panarthropods homologous protocerebrum pancrustaceans. Together, our results suggest evolved 100 million years earlier than previously suggested.
