Postlarval shrimp frequently face threats from acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND). Although AHPND affects both postlarval and adult shrimp, abiotic biotic factors are distinct between life stages, such as rearing water nutrient levels host stage-dependent microbiota. The response of postlarvae-associated microbiota to AHPND, however, remains largely unexplored compared with its effects on juvenile shrimp. To address this knowledge gap, a comparative analysis the ecological processes underlying progression was performed by sequencing bacterial V3–V4 hypervariable region 16S rRNA gene. infection validated high copies pirAB genes (Toxin 1) in diseased hepatopancreas. Advanced significantly altered structure microbiota, significant enrichment Bacilli Bdellovibrionia species healthy larvae matched AHPND-infected cohorts, although gut recovery observed at late stage, corresponding cessation mortality. explained 11.0% (p < 0.001) variance community structures, whereas postlarvae days post hatching also influenced communities (7.1% variance, p 0.001). exhibited reduced homogeneous selection increased dispersal limitation drift governing their These changes were primarily driven specific microbial lineages, including enriched Bin36 Rhodobacteraceae Bin11 Flavobacteriaceae, suppressed Bin63 Vibrio Bin9 Bacillus After excluding age effect, 13 AHPND-discriminatory taxa identified, accurately distinguishing infected individuals 100% precision. Furthermore, outbreak weakened network complexity stability, which keystone that positively associated robustness. Collectively, our findings deepen understanding inextricable interplay health, dynamics, survival, well mechanisms over progression.

ABSTRACT Aquaculture holds immense promise for addressing the food needs of our growing global population. Yet, a quantitative understanding factors that control its efficiency and productivity has remained elusive. In this study, we address knowledge gap by focusing on microbiome determinants productivity, more specifically animal survival growth, one most predominant species in aquaculture, whiteleg shrimp ( Penaeus vannamei ). Through analysis shrimp-associated from previous studies across Asia Latin America, established presence core phylogenetic groups, widely prevalent aquaculture conditions disparate geographic locations including both pathogenic beneficial microbes. Focusing early stages growth (larval hatcheries), showed composition alone can predict remarkable fraction variation larvae rates (ca. 50%). Taxa associated with high share recently acquired genes appear to be specific conditions. These are involved biosynthesis protein degradation, underscoring potential role microorganisms nutrient assimilation. By contrast, predictability adult weight grow-out farms is weaker (10%–20%), akin observations context livestock. conclusion, study unveils novel avenue predicting based analysis. This paves way targeted manipulation as strategic approach enhance earliest developmental stages. IMPORTANCE rapidly industry essential security, yet often constrained mortality inefficient growth. While known influence host health assimilation, broader production remains poorly understood. Here, take data-driven systematically analyzing microbiomes hatcheries farms. integrating data machine learning, demonstrate microbial communities powerful predictors key outcomes, shaping Our findings suggest could serve diagnostic tool assessing optimizing management strategies. addition, learning techniques offer promising identifying microbes developing therapies sustainability efficiency.

Indeed, harbors factors involved animal homeostasis that interacts with immunity. Southwest Pacific, high economical valued shrimp Penaeus stylirostris reared two contrasted sites, New Caledonia (NC) French Polynesia (FP). We characterized active inhabiting shrimps while considering stability during seasons at one-month interval evidenced microbial variability between rearing sites. highlighted specific biomarkers along common core composed 6 ASVs. Differential relative expression immune effectors measured populations from NC FP, exhibited higher level compared FP. addition, differential was correlated based their geographical location. Our data suggest that, Pacific shrimps, both could have undergone immunostimulation as well adaptative divergence Further, identification proxies such biomarkers, be used guide future actions monitor thus preserve productions.

The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamic changes in microbial communities both environment and gut Litopenaeus vannamei, as well elucidate mechanisms underlying community assembly greenhouse farming. 16S rDNA high-throughput sequencing bioinformatics methods were used carry out research on structure microorganisms under culture conditions water, sediment, microorganisms; correlations pertaining environmental factors; feasibility using Source Tracker; construction. results show that dominant farming a varied subject change. A variety beneficial microbiota such Bacillus found gut, whereas Marivita Pseudomonas, which function nitrogen phosphorus removers, present water. Tracker correlation analyses showed associated with eutrophication indicators (total nitrogen, total phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen) (in water sediment). community-building mechanism analysis stochastic processes determine directions microorganisms. These findings will help us understand characteristics shrimp ponds conditions, complex interactions between variables, revealing changing rules microbiota.

ABSTRACT The shrimp intestine harbors a microbiota that has pivotal roles for host's physiology. Imbalance of intestinal been shown closely related to the occurrence diseases. morphological and biological features are considered suboptimal stable microbial colonization, making composition highly susceptible impact environmental changes or stressors, particularly unstable. Therefore, relative unsteadiness represents continuous threat host survival. Shrimp homeostasis is achieved through dynamic interplay between innate immunity. possesses effective immune mechanisms can suppress uncontrolled proliferation components, simultaneously protect from elimination. mechanism(s) by which components immunity interact with each other achieve an interesting microbiota. This review summarizes current knowledge about colonization in shrimp, as well intricate employed system regulate this Moreover, potential intervention strategies promote modulating also discussed. Thus, seeks comprehensively analyze information contribute deeper understanding complex maintaining overall health. enhanced may potentially open new avenues aquaculture management disease mitigation strategies, ultimately benefiting farming industry.
