Abstract Objective Environmental factors have long been shown to influence brain structure and adolescent psychopathology. However, almost no research has included environmental spanning micro-to-macro-systems, structure, psychopathology in an integrated framework. Here, we assessed the ways degree which multi-system during late childhood predict subcortical volume early adolescence. Method We used baseline 2-year follow-up data from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development SM Study ( N = 2,766). A Bayesian latent profile analysis was applied obtain distinct profiles childhood. Racism is embedded in the fabric of society at structural, disciplinary, hegemonic, and interpersonal levels, working as a mechanism that drives health disparities. In particular, stigmatized views substance use get entangled with racialization, serving tool to uphold oppressive systems. While national institutions have made commitments dismantle these systems United States, anti-racism has not been integrated into biomedical research practice. The ways which researchers interpret race data-without engaging structural racism inequity-can only be described inadequate. Drawing upon concepts from Public Health Critical Race praxis, QuantCrit, an framework, we recommend set guidelines help conceptualize engage more responsibly research.

Purpose: The Adolescent Brain Cognitive DevelopmentSM (ABCD) Study is the largest longitudinal study on brain development and adolescent health in United States. includes a sociodemographically diverse cohort of nearly 12,000 youth born 2005-2009, with an open science model making data rapidly available to scientific community. ABCD Study® has been used over 1,100 peer-reviewed publications since its first release 2018. dataset contains broad scope comprehensive set measures youths’ behavioral, health, outcomes, as well extensive contextual environmental that map onto social determinants (SDOH). Understanding impact SDOH developmental trajectories youthwill help address early lifecourse inequities lead disparities later life. However, use highlight need for guidance appropriate, responsible, equitable data.Design Methods: Our conceptual framework integrates National Institute Minority Health Disparities Research Framework strength-based equity perspectives.
