In recent years, ion-selective capacitive deionization (CDI) technology has been used to selectively separate ions from multi-ion composition solutions. Innovative electrode materials have widely in the fields of recovery high-value and removal toxic harmful ions. Developments their structure-chemical activity relationships were reviewed analyzed. Moreover, anticipatory observations challenges regarding future CDI devices are discussed. Ultimately, this comprehensive review aims provide meaningful insights directions exploration for ideal materials, propelling further advancements systems.
