To boost the adsorption‐photocatalytic performances of biochar in wastewater treatment, was modified with ternary metal oxides ZnO, Sm 2 O 3 , and MgO (ZnSm/Mg‐biochar) via one‐step pyrolysis method. The optimal 2b‐ZnSm/Mg‐biochar a Zn/Sm molar ratio 1:1 exhibited better removal activity RhB comparison biochar, 2‐Mg/biochar, b‐ZnSm/biochar. efficiency adsorption capacity 99.46% 979.22 mg g −1 for solution 410 respectively. kinetics isotherms ZnSm/Mg‐biochar composites were as described by second‐order Langmuir models, abundant vacant sites at junction interface MgO, favorable photon capturing, achieving efficient photo‐conversion under stimulated solar‐light irradiation.

Among all supports, carbonaceous ones are most popular due to their high surface area, limited cost, and tunable properties. Nevertheless, materials such as carbon black produced from oil-derived sources lacking in sustainability. Pyrolytic biomass, known biochar, could represent a valid solution combine sustainability performance supported catalysts. In this review, we report comprehensive overview cutting-edge applications biochar-based catalysts, providing reference point for both experts newcomers. This review will provide description possible proving widest range processes.
