The building sector is a major contributor to global resource consumption and waste generation. circular economy (CE) concept offers promising alternative the traditional linear by promoting reuse, remanufacture, repair, recycling of materials products. However, adoption CE in faces several barriers. This paper presents systematic literature review utilising PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses) approach, focusing on barriers enablers influencing sector. Drawing from an analysis numerous papers published between 2008 2023, we identified high number that delay integration CE. were categorised into six categories: awareness, technical, economic market, implementation, support/promotion, social. also discusses interdependence barriers, using co-occurrence matrix. study findings indicate lack regulations, fragment supply chain, upfront investment cost as implementation Based results, stringent governance legislation, financial incentives, development technology innovation tools are critical factors successful principles. results this provide comprehensive overview feasibility sector, which could help develop strategies accelerate transition integrated

The construction industry, a cornerstone of global economic and social progress, is under increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices due its significant environmental footprint. Industrial hemp (<em>Cannabis sativa</em> L.) has gained attention as renewable material for building applications, offering potential reductions in greenhouse gas emissions resource consumption. However, broader sustainability performance remains underexplored. This study develops comprehensive Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) framework evaluate the environmental, economic, implications hemp-based materials Australia. integrates life cycle assessment, costing, assessment based on ISO 14040-44 standards. Using participatory approach, 19 indicators were identified relevant through consultation with 30 stakeholders across construction, industries, academia. By addressing critical gaps methodology, this provides robust tool optimise advance net-zero practices.

Silicon dioxide (SiO2) is a prominent candidate for radiative cooling applications due to its low absorption in solar wavelengths (0.25–2.5 µm) and exceptional stability. However, bulk phonon-polariton band results strong reflection peak the atmospheric transparency window (8–13 μm), making it difficult meet requirements sub-ambient passive cooling. Herein, we demonstrate that SiO2 micropillar arrays can effectively suppress infrared at 8–13 μm enhance emissivity by optimizing array structure. We created pattern with height, spacing, diameter of approximately 1.45 μm, 0.15 0.35 respectively, on top substrate using reactive ion etching. The resulting surface phonon coupling led an increase thermal from 0.79 0.94. Outdoor tests show cooler optimized generate average temperature drop 5.5 °C throughout daytime underneath irradiance 843.1 W m−2 noon. Furthermore, endow remarkable hydrophobic properties, attributed formation F/C compounds introduced during etching process. Finally, also replicated onto industrial optical reflectors (OSRs), demonstrating similar hydrophobicity enhancements. Our findings revealed effective strategy modifying management features durable layers, which be harnessed cool OSRs other sky-facing devices.

Abstract In recent years, an increasing number of passive radiative cooling materials are proposed in the literature, with several examples relying on use silica (SiO 2 ) due to its unique stability, non‐toxicity, and availability. Nonetheless, bulk phonon‐polariton band, SiO presents a marked reflection peak within atmospheric transparency window (8‐13 µm), leading emissivity decrease that poses challenge fulfilling criteria for sub‐ambient cooling. Thus, latest developments this field devoted design engineered photonic structures, increase potential coolers. This review seeks identify most effective fabrication strategies emitters by evaluating their efficacy, as well scalability, providing in‐depth analysis fundamental principles, structural models, results (both numerical experimental) various types
