ABSTRACT While extensive research has explored the impact of housing tenure on individuals' subjective well‐being (SWB), little is known about implications emerging owner‐renting phenomenon—where homeowners live in rented instead their owned property within same city—referred to as ownership‐residence mismatch. This study draws nationally representative survey data from 2017 CHFS, supplemented by qualitative interviews conducted 2025, examine how both homeownership and alignment between ownership residence affect SWB. Our findings confirm positive effect However, owner‐renters, despite being well‐educated having high incomes, report lower SWB than those who own reside homes, highlighting importance alignment. Drawing concept ontological security, we argue that not living one's home may undermine sense stability, control identity crucial The mismatch particularly detrimental first‐tier cities, where costs intense competition exacerbate challenges faced owner‐renters. These results call for more nuanced policies move beyond traditional own‐rent dichotomy.

The consolidation and closure of small schools in rural areas has not only worsened the educational environment but also risked accelerating socioeconomic decline communities. This study examines how elementary school closures affect accessibility seeks to optimize prioritization through a fairness-oriented approach. An optimal model, developed using p-median algorithm, was applied simulate assess changes commuting conditions spatial equity. Using case South Korean county, we demonstrate model’s ability minimize disparities urban environments while ensuring balanced fair decision-making process for closures. approach highlights viable pathway equitable infrastructure planning regions facing demographic decline.

Amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution and 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), China’s digital village initiative has emerged as a localized implementation for achieving multidimensional sustainability. However, progress of villages in China remains uneven, posing challenges to sustainable rural transformation. This study develops index system at four levels: infrastructure, development environment areas, industry agricultural production digitalization. Entropy weighting was used evaluate across 30 Chinese provinces (2013–2022). Kernel density estimation, Dagum Gini coefficient, obstacle degree model were spatiotemporal dynamics, regional disparities, barriers. The results show that between 2013 2022, advanced (the average annual growth rate: 9.43%), with spatial distribution pattern “east superior, west inferior, south prosperous, north declining”. National have yearly, absolute relative disparities increasing, extensibility multi-polarizing rising. Digital is becoming increasingly imbalanced, inter-regional differences driving “east, central, west” disparity intra-regional North–South disparity. Ranking hurdle areas (45.94%) > (24.83%) infrastructure (21.85%) digitalization (7.38%). Taobao are major restraint on development.
