Abstract The 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 agenda hinges on attaining a sustainable environment with the need to “take urgent action combat climate change and its impacts”. Hence, this study empirically revisits debate effect of nonrenewable energy globalization carbon emissions within framework Kuznets hypothesis using an unbalanced panel data from seven South Asian countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) covering 1980–2019. variables interest are measured in metric tons per capita, use as kg oil equivalent index. To address five main objectives, we deploy four techniques: panel-corrected standard errors (PCSE), feasible generalized least squares (FGLS), quantile regression (QR), fully modified ordinary (FMOLS). For most part, findings reveal that (1) inverted U-shaped energy-Kuznets curve holds; (2) globalization-Kuznets is evident; (3) turning points for 496.03 640.84, while 38.83 39.04, respectively; (4) globalization-emission relationship indicates at median 75th quantile; (5) holds Pakistan but nexus prevails Nepal Lanka; Bangladesh Lanka, evident Nepal. Deductively, our results show Asia (at early stage development) faced hazardous substance deteriorates human health. Moreover, non-linear square term energy-emissions negative, which validates EKC theory. Overall, opposite consistency result intense prone environmental degradation.
