Financial market structure and entrepreneurship formalization in Sub-Saharan Africa: a nonlinear analysis

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the nonlinear relation between financial market structure and entrepreneurship formalization in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). It a pertinent research concern considering sub-continent’s atypical system relatively low rate formalization. Design/methodology/approach Using comparative statics, study develops an innovative analytical framework, premised on Developmental Needs Sequencing tenets, consider influence representative SSA economy. general conclusions are empirically evaluated using quantile regression analysis. Findings While empirical findings confirm nonlinearity, negative effect exists regressand regressor at different quantiles. This highlights seeming disconnect formal markets even as bank resources increase. Empirical evidence does not affirm or theories SSA.
