Remediation of arsenic contamination is great importance given the high toxicity and easy mobility species in water soil. This work reports a new stable adsorbent for efficient elimination by coating polyethyleneimine (PEI) molecules onto surface iron-doped birnessite (Fe-Bir). Characterization results microstructure crystalline feature (scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), etc.) suggest that Fe-Bir/PEI possesses fine particle structure, inhibiting agglomeration birnessite-typed MnO

The electrocoagulation/ultrafiltration (ECUF) process is expected to address the issues of current wastewater increments and complex water reuse. However, underlying mechanism associated with flocs remains unclear in ECUF system, especially upgraded permanganate-bearing (PECUF) system. Herein, their formation, response organic matter (OM), interfacial features PECUF were systematically explored. Results demonstrated that permanganate contributed rapid start-up coagulation by forming MnO2 blocking ligand-metal charge transfer between adsorbed Fe(II) solid-phase Fe(III). natural OM (NOM) exhibited obvious time- particle size-dependent characteristics. Based on this, optimal NOM adsorption window was found be interval 5-20 min, whereas removal located at 20-30 min interval. Furthermore, extended Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek theory revealed principle module for optimizing UF performance. On one hand, it reduced inherent resistance cake layer modifying colloidal solution, which guaranteed a small drop (15%) initial flux. other enhanced repulsive force among suspended particles achieve long-term antifouling effect. This study may provide insights into selection performance control on-demand assembly modules decentralized treatment systems.
