Advanced Chemical Separation is a core course for chemical engineering master’s students, characterized by its broad scope, interdisciplinary nature, and strong practical orientation. To address challenges such as numerous knowledge points, integration difficulties, rapid updates in frontier knowledge, insufficient problem integration, the teaching team explored innovative approaches based on “Three Parallel Education” concept. This includes content design, mode innovation, of ideological political education, providing reference reform graduate courses new era.

This study explores talent-development trajectories of early-career chemical engineers to identify key components for success in the field using talent development megamodel as a theoretical framework. Interviews with 12 recent PhD graduates reveal trajectory across four developmental stages: (a) math ability and science ability, (b) engineering competence specialization competence, (c) expertise/creative productivity. Teachable include cognitive skills (e.g., strong math/science foundation, problem-solving), metacognitive experimental design, project management), motivational perseverance, learning from failures), psychosocial communication, collaboration) at different stages. The highlights importance early experiences, mentorship, continuous fostering engineering. Understanding field-specific can inform targeted initiatives address workforce gaps promote STEM talent.
