Heavy metal pollution in soil seriously harms human health and animal plant growth. Among them, cadmium is one of the most serious issues. As a promising remediation material for soil, functionalized biochar has attracted wide attention last decade. This paper summarizes preparation technology biochar, existing forms heavy metals mechanism remediating contamination factors affecting process, discusses latest research advances soil. Finally, challenges encountered by implementation Cd are summarized, prospects this field highlighted its expected industrial large-scale implementation.
