Tartrazine (TAZ), a synthetic lemon-yellow azo dye, finds uses in food ingredients, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Treatment with TAZ during pregnancy Wistar rats will be investigated to assess its impact on embryonic development. Eighteen pregnant were divided into three groups: the control group two groups administered via gavage at doses of 7.5 mg/kg 15 from day 5 18. At 19 days gestation, female euthanised their foetuses extracted for assessment. Analysis was conducted evaluate mortality, growth, morphological, skeletal abnormalities. Furthermore, maternal fetal tissues subjected histological analysis oxidative state evaluated. No observed corrected body weight by TAZ. However, it resulted inhibited development, morphological defects, resorption, delayed ossification. Daily administration altered histology placenta, liver, kidney. Malonaldehyde increased antioxidant markers such as glutathione, catalase superoxide dismutase decreased, causing hepatic stress. Our study indicates that is embryotoxic rats. Therefore, should avoided process organogenesis crucial gestational time.
