This open letter discusses the importance of riparian vegetation and misconceptions surrounding its management. It highlights essential ecosystem services provided by zones, such as flood regulation, sediment control, shading, microclimate habitat diversity. Despite these benefits, public misunderstanding often leads to harmful policies like clear-cutting channelization. In this brief communication, we emphasize role citizen science in addressing perception involving local communities environmental surveys, providing examples a novel approach monitor manage forests. This newly developed process involves volunteer training, data collection using smartphone app, analysis, dissemination results. The collected is validated experts used inform decision-making. hands-on engagement helps replace anecdotal beliefs with evidence-based understanding, fostering better support for conservation efforts.

This paper aims to propose a method for the evaluation of hydromorphological quality river and its riparian areas using three essential components: morphological characterization, connectivity, vegetation coverage. The has been applied Tordera in Catalonia, Spain. general goal is establish environment assessment tool by proposing parameters each mentioned aspects. approach relies on data collection with simple computational procedure eliminating subjectivity weighting classification levels. In proposed methodology, weights indicators are determined Distance Correlation-Based CRITIC (D-CRITIC) method, results integrated Coupling Coordination Degree Model (CCDM). methodology quantifies analyzes environmental problems faced zones rivers through CCDM thus can be used as basis methods improve ecological situation. enhancement coordination between development resources requirements ecosystem protection utilization, they promote healthy environments effective use resources.
