The connectivity of landscapes is increasingly threatened by urban sprawl, which leads to the fragmentation habitats and thus endangers species that live there. To address this situation, landscape dynamics in literature have mostly been analyzed using predefined land cover classes, were then not used assess habitat suitability, but instead relied on physical variables. As a bridge between both aspects, study aimed model spatiotemporal patterns analyzing metrics associated with four groups classified according their naturalness. Landscape combined range terrain, climate proximity variables develop Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) for terrestrial animal species. proposed methodology was tested case Mediterranean region Valencian Community (Spain): assessed over period 1992–2015, while HSI European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) as target results obtained terms showed growing presence artificial surfaces at expense fewer transformed areas, became progressively fragmented time. Moreover, developed highly concordant observations abundance region, based particular related temperature area patch shape preferred These outputs can be support implementation restoration strategies increasing ecological through measures such wildlife crossings.

Accelerated urbanization has caused encroachment on urban water ecological land in China's Yellow River basin, resulting a strong disturbance of ecosystem service functions and increasingly serious environmental problems. In this study, two entities—water value (WESV) the system—are identified, to investigate interactions between WESV systems their subsystems six basin cities (Lanzhou, Yinchuan, Hohhot, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Jinan) from 2005 2020. First, integrated level system each city is calculated using modified developed method equivalence factor per unit area entropy method, respectively. Then, coupling coordination relationship are revealed by degree model (CCDM) Geographically Temporally Weighted Regression (GTWR). The results show that: 1) both basically shows an increasing trend, hydrological regulation function dominates functions, comprehensive evaluation environment generally higher than that other system's subsystems. 2) gradually rose extreme incoordination coordination, (CCD) resources also obvious upward but CCD safety developing more slowly. 3) where have greater positive impacts primarily focused Lanzhou while negative mainly located Yinchuan Zhengzhou. summary, planning decision-making or cities, it critical promote protection ecology high-quality development clearly understanding interaction services system, coordinating balancing systems.

The study of ecosystem service value (ESV) response to landscape pattern evolution has become a research hotspot in the fields geography and ecology, however, multi-scale mechanism ESV change Karst region is still unclear, which some extent restricts precise regulation regional ecosystems multi-level human-land coupling coordination. This focuses on Nanming River Basin (NMRB) Guizhou Province, representative karst basin southern China. Using various methods such as an equivalent factor, index, optimal parameter geo-detector(OPGD), we calculated ESVs, explored spatial temporal from 2000 2020, scientifically analyzed ESVs at sub-watershed scale (27 124 sub-watersheds) grid (2.4 km × 2.4 1.2 grids), respectively. results revealed that synergies have been dominant relationship between NMRB since beginning 21st century. At sub-basin scale, shape index (LSI) (21–43%) coefficient variation (SHAPE_CV) (20–35%) were main drivers geographical differentiation trade-offs/synergies among with few attenuation effect types weakened geographic differentiation. In our transforming world, ecosystem services (ESs) and biodiversity are threatened by urban sprawl with rapid urban-rural transformation (URT), jeopardizing human well-being. Understanding the effect of URT on ESs is critical, particularly in areas that have undergone urbanization. Taken Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) region China as a typical case, this study measures from population-land-industry perspective elucidates influence each index at different stages. The process experienced decline population growth, an increase land urbanization, stability non-agriculturalization rate. particular, reveals intricate complex non-linear relationship between ESs. negatively affects grain production (GP), habitat quality (HQ), soil retention (SR), carbon sequestration (CS) has positive impact water yield (WY). Furthermore, it was found response threshold to URTIs increased over time, indicating can maintain certain degree resilience face activities. However, ensuring continued increasingly depends implementation effective management protection measures. This advances knowledge dynamics rapidly urbanizing provides valuable insights for policymakers planners guide sustainable development resource management.

High-intensity and large-scale mining activities have aggravated regional eco-geological risk. Therefore, it is significantly essential to conduct an assessment of the risk areas. Although some progress has been achieved in ecological studies, existing approaches are not entirely suitable for coal bases with high landscape fragmentation dense activities. Here, we developed a novel geological (LEGR) framework based on theories that include The selected 10 indicators, including slope, fluctuation, lithological hardness, soil type, FVC, RSEI, precipitation, biological abundance, distance road subsidence rate, calculated weights indicators by introducing AHP-CRITIC coupled weighting model. Then, impact disturbances quantified measuring losses. This was applied Shenfu area (SFMA), typical base northwest China. results indicated LEGR moderate SFMA whose spatial distribution exhibited increasing trend from southwest northeast. Besides, mainly aggregated subsidence. For environment monitoring at mine scale, multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) model utilized analyzing relationship between within disturbed range mining. It provided valuable insights formulation environmental protection policies area.
