Introduction In the context of escalating public health crises in megacities, promoting green and healthy urban spatial development is crucial. It not only contributes to economic growth environmental sustainability but also significantly impacts residents. Methods This study utilized land use data from 2000 2021 Chongqing, China, investigate characteristics patterns change space distribution. Spatial analysis methods were employed, an econometric model was constructed analyze mechanisms these changes, considering factors such as drivers, governmental regulation, social dynamics. Results The results reveal that spaces Chongqing metropolitan area are primarily concentrated inner suburbs with limited distribution central areas, exhibiting a distinct gradient. overall size has been decreasing, particularly suburbs. primary this reduction include edge erosion suburbs, inward contraction minor perforation new towns. Discussion indicates industrial growth, dominant contributing spaces. impact dynamics, demand, appears be relatively insignificant. Conversely, government planning policies investments play crucial role protection These findings emphasize need for effective strategies prioritize conservation expansion enhance megacities.

Park green space (PGS) is an important part of urban ecosystem and infrastructure, the ease access to PGS closely related health residents. A growing number studies have attempted identify accessibility disparities, but results varied because travel mode choice measurement method. This study proposes a dynamic Huff two-step floating catchment area (H2SFCA) method based on map service API (Application Programming Interface) assess PGS, with Gini coefficient bivariate local Moran’s I used analyze equity. Results show that: (1) driving biking modes more significant spatiotemporal compression effects than modes, public transit, walking mode. (2) The values spatial patterns vary significantly by availability pattern at level uneven distribution regional level. In comparison for single are likely be overestimated or underestimated. (3) generally has better equity residents can select suitable tools acquire equitable park services. addition, there difference between driving-based transit-based in four subdistricts, which mainly located south Tianhe District. transport facilities linking parks these areas need optimized. further improves evaluation method, findings conducive implementation refined planning management.

The rapid increase in urban population density driven by development has intensified inequity green space distribution. Identifying the causes of changes equity and developing strategies to improve greening are crucial for optimizing resource allocation alleviating social inequalities. However, long-term spatio-temporal evolution visibility remains underexplored. This study utilized “Time Machine” feature capture street view images from 2014, 2017, 2021, analyzing its across residential communities Wuhan. Deep learning techniques statistical methods, including Gini coefficient location quotient (LQ), were employed assess distribution spatial street-level greenery. results showed that overall Wuhan increased 4.18% between 2014 2021. this improvement did not translate into better equity, as consistently ranged 0.4 0.5. Among seven municipal districts, only Jiang’an District demonstrated relatively equitable 2017 Despite a gradual reduction disparities visibility, mismatch persisted UGS growth distribution, leading uneven patterns equity. explores factors driving inequities proposes enhance greening. Key recommendations include integrating evaluation framework planning guide fair allocation, prioritizing greenery low-income neighborhoods, reducing hardscapes support planting maintenance tall canopy trees. These measures aim accessible visible resources promote access communities.
