Urbanisation affects the health and stability of ecosystem significantly. Constructing a scientific ecological security pattern (ESP) is paramount importance for safeguarding ecosystems within region, optimising spaces, ensuring sustainability. To investigate effect urbanisation on ESP, we utilised Vigour–Organisation–Resilience-Services (VORS) model to analyse changes in (EH) identify degraded areas city Chengdu. In this case study. We used Patch-generating Land Use Simulation (PLUS) Model predict urban expansion trends 2035 evaluate changing ESP. Additionally, minimum cumulative resistance (MCR) circuit theory construct an network facilitate multilayer planning identified source area approximately 4484.29 km2 recovery zone 1608.35 managing EH degradation source. An conservation 987.48 with restricted development outside source, restoration 71.66 mitigate impact were also identified. Seven stable corridors consistent spatial patterns pressure levels six potential await restoration. Based analysis dynamic ESPs, different scenarios simulated 2035. The findings suggested significant variations ESP around 2010 despite rapid environment was partially restored by increasing land controlling its contraction. Therefore, limiting boundaries expansion, accurately assessing are crucial security.

The National Ecological Barrier Zones are an important part of China's ecological security strategy. construction a scientific and reasonable pattern (ESP) is for the healthy development national barrier zones. existing literature does not consider impact potential changes in ecosystem health land use on ESP construction. In this study, we considered typical composite area, Sichuan-Yunnan barrier, to analyze such areas; probability future growth change, circuit theory, service trade-off synergy, construct sustainable ESP. Spatial heterogeneity was observed level barrier; high-value areas were mostly distributed central southern parts study but low-value northeastern western regions. contained 246 sources (distributed forest grassland contiguous south, central, northeast regions), 563 corridors that portrayed obvious differences spatial distribution, 123 pinchpoints, 231 barriers, topographic gradient characteristics. Based data, proposed relevant policy opinions zoning control. results show incorporating trade-offs services into assessments can lead more effective selection sources. Meanwhile, constructed by using correct resistance surface truly reflect need under trend. research framework "ecosystem assessment incorporates - theory" could address technical issues constructing compound large regional/national regions key function areas.

Protected areas (PAs) play a key role in mitigating ecological crises. Currently, priority protected (PPAs) focus on biological conservation, and few studies have considered the connectivity between patches. Few formulated future conservation measures from two dimensions of security pattern (ESP) reserve effectiveness. To fill this gap, study use ESP to identify that meet objectives. We take Wuhan metropolitan area as research area. constructed framework for formulating development plans based areas. The complete method system, we focused construction evaluation index system landscape connectivity. Then, effectiveness PAs could be evaluated, PPAs identified. results showed there were five isolated among existing PAs. Moreover, total was 9328.91 km2, they had high value. Due low protection rate PPAs, are not main target PAs; thus, new According our plan, with different classes will achieve functions work. Our focuses achieving sustainable formulates environmental land planning balance urban development. It can provide information support realization 2030 vision
