Abstract Urban wetlands have ecological functions such as maintaining biodiversity and regulating runoff, wetland waterbirds are also important biological indicators of ecosystems, which can reflect the conditions cities. In recent years, extreme weather occurs frequently, urban waterlogging is serious, rivers play role flood drainage, rainwater backflow will a serious impact on rivers, aquatic organisms. Therefore, it necessary to explore inundation under rainfall conditions. past, most research was from perspective disaster prevention, there little degree habitat destruction waterbirds. this paper, HEC-RAS hydrological model used simulate Shiwuli River in study area Hefei City, results showed that once rainstorm occurred, downstream would be flooded large height exceed defense level, swimming birds coots nesting wetland. landscape, foraging Coots were selected design factors, floating bird island designed alleviate invasion rain Coots. The innovation propose an optimization strategy for waterfowl habitat, provide reference protection management, improve environmental changes caused by lakes populations.
