In Tanzania, grazing in Village Land Forest Reserves is prohibited some villages but allowed and practiced other villages. This study investigated the composition of forest understory vegetation terms number species, abundance, height their response to livestock intensities a grazed Reserve Tanzania. A 12-month experiment with five cycles was conducted within four blocks 4 ha each, 0, 8, 12, 18 adult cows/ha for control, low, moderate, high intensities, respectively. total 178 plant species belonging 146 genera 43 families were recorded. These classified into nine growth forms; annual climber, forb, grass, perennial sedge, shrub, tree seedling, dominant co-dominant found among forbs seedlings, Low moderate intensity treatments showed no significant reduction number, stem while treatment abundance height, not relative control. We conclude that, duration study, applied did affect whereas both affected significantly. The indicates that reducing low or resting periods can enable community benefit from forage production without affecting forest.
