The Hunjiang River, a vital water system in northeastern China, has suffered severe ecological damage due to overexploitation. This study analyzes the basin’s environmental conditions from 2016 2020, identifies key restoration factors, and examines practical projects. Investigating five major pollutants (permanganate index, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical demand, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus) eight sections, finds Xicun section most polluted, mainly Baishan City’s industrial domestic discharges. nitrogen concentration at Zian also shows deterioration. Using DPSIR (Driving forces, Pressures, State, Impacts, Responses) framework, elucidates relationship between socio-economic issues. Results indicate that population changes, development, resource management have complex impacts. Evaluating urban carrying capacity with entropy weight method correlation coefficient weighting method, increasing forest coverage, improving wastewater treatment efficiency, reducing COD emissions are crucial. Quantitative assessment of integrated protection projects involving mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands demonstrates their positive impact. research reveals interplay environment social proposes measures, clarifies project effects, providing reliable decision-making schemes for policymakers.
