Introduction: The coupling coordination development among Water Resources Carrying Capacity (WRCC), Urbanization Level (UL), and Economic Development (EDL) is a critical indicator for regional socio-economic ecological sustainability. Although existing studies on WRCC are abundant, in-depth study the evolution law of its influence mechanism still lacking. Methods: This proposes an innovative integrated model combining Technique Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), degree (CCD) analysis, nonlinear polynomial regression, dynamically assess interplay WRCC, UL, EDL in Sichuan Province, China from 2010 2019. Key innovations include: First, hybrid weighting method balance objectivity expert knowledge evaluating EDL, integrating entropy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Second, dynamic CCD capturing multi-system synergies regression framework quantifying interaction effects. Results Discussion: exhibited wavy upward trend, peaking at 0.60 2018 2019, with spatial characteristics “strong west, weak east, stable center.” shows trend lagging coordination, basic (0.4–0.5 2010–2014) full (0.6–0.8 2018–2019), 18 cities surpassing 0.6. Regression analysis revealed that predominantly driven interactions between systems, R2 0.973, where WRCC-EDL synergy exerted strongest influence, coefficient 0.780. provides scientific foundation optimizing water resource management fostering sustainable urbanization-economy-resource ecologically fragile yet rapidly developing regions.
