Estimations

reservoir
bathymetry

storage

Three
Gorges
Reservoir
(TGR)
is
one
of
the
largest
man-made
lakes
in
world.
Since
impoundment
2003,
however,
algal
blooms
have
been
often
observed
tributary
embayments.
To
control
blooms,
a
thorough
understanding
hydrodynamics
(e.g.,
flow
regime,
velocity
gradient,
and
magnitude
direction)
embayments
particularly
important.
Using
calibrated
three-dimensional
hydrodynamic
model,
we
carried
out
analysis
typical
embayment
(i.e.,
Xiangxi
Bay)
with
emphasis
on
longitudinal
patterns.
The
results
show
distinct
gradients
study
area,
which
can
be
generally
characterized
as
four
zones:
riverine,
intermediate,
lacustrine,
mainstream
influenced
zones.

zonation
for
pure
reservoir,
there
an
additional
zone
near
mouth
due
to
strong
effects
