This paper analyses and compares a set of case studies on ecosystem services (ES) mapping assessment with the purpose formulating lessons learned recommendations. Fourteen were selected during EU Horizon 2020 “Coordination Support Action” ESMERALDA to represent different policy- decision-making processes throughout European Union, across wide range themes, biomes scales. The analysis is based framework that addresses key steps an ES process, namely policy questions, stakeholder identification involvement, application methods, dissemination communication implementation. revealed most policy-orientated or gave explicit suggestions for implementation in contexts, including urban, rural natural areas.
