This research presents an analysis identify key factors system planning by integrating economic dispatch model (ED) based on linear programming determine vulnerable aspects of generation transmission strategic scenarios that could jeopardize country’s transition. The is illustrated through case study Mexican Electrical Power System (SEN) during year 2025. shows reserve margin fluctuated due variable renewable installed despite having vast capacity supply total demand. In addition, results showed most lines had congestion frequency higher than 90% their year. Two regions were identified as best options reducing greenhouse gas emissions installing new plants. Thermal power plants play a central role in present systems because of their high efficiency, fast startup capability, and flexibility to integrate the variability renewable generations. These thermal units can utilize various fuels, including coal, natural gas, oil, which enhances both economic performance security overall energy system. Representing fuel cost functions these with multiple fuels (MFs) as binary decisions involves adding variables dispatch (ED) problem. The inclusion nonlinear results complex NP‐hard mixed‐integer programming (MINLP). This paper provides another perspective on ED, where indicator represent MF options determine should be set zero. Based this perspective, builds tight model handle solve MINLP ED. Moreover, introduces an iterative solution method bound‐tightening technique speed up process. We conducted experimental studies using eight ED case involving 1280 generating units. optimal costs obtained from demonstrate effectiveness for solving Furthermore, proposed approach generally outperforms earlier algorithms terms quality robustness. Finally, process by 18%–45% compared standard formulation adopted studies.
