Phosphogypsum (PG) wastes, including solid-state PG and liquid-state leachate, are industrial byproducts generated during the production of phosphoric acid. It is great concern due to large-scale product accumulation environmental geological hazards. Harmless treatment green chemical resource utilization techniques emerge be critical solutions for solving waste problem. This review aims comprehensively summarize recent advances in harmless treatment, recovery, valorization wastes. The technique advancements regarding decontamination, with different physical, chemical, thermal, biological approaches summarized. Additionally, comprehensive physical chemistry mechanisms underneath strategies leachate have also been discussed. For future work, challenges perspectives highlighted. With systematic information on these aspects, we expect this will serve as a guideline young generations working recovery.
