Transformative
innovation
policies
are
gaining
currency
worldwide,
but
have
been
mainly
studied
in
a
Global
North
context
and
the
energy
sector.
This
paper
focuses
empirically
on
Costa
Rica's
Climate
Smart
Agriculture
policy
mix.
It
addresses
key
knowledge
gaps
dynamics
of
transformative
development
agrifood
sector
South
context.
Results
show
mix's
potential
was
inhibited
by
weak
implementation
capacity
internal
external
incoherence
between
sectors
governance
levels,
leading
to
tensions
resulting
from
policy-element
interactions
such
as
conflicting
goals
interventions
with
overlapping
purposes.
The
broader
implication
for
theory
practice
is
that
successful
mixes
require
close
scrutiny
both
balance
mix

fundamentally
transform

Abstract
A
wealth
of
scholarly
work
has
contributed
to
make
visible
and

the
place
indigenous
peoples
knowledge
in
sustainability
transitions.

Abstract
This
paper
interrogates
the
utility
of
a
just
transition
framework
for
climate
change
and
human
wellbeing
in
context
Aotearoa
New
Zealand.
Drawing
on
historical
conceptualisations
applications
transitions,
their
limitations
potential,
we
argue
that
an
expansive
anti-reductionist
conceptualisation
is
best
suited
to
address
complex
inter-sectoral
issues
across
time
space.

transitions
are
characterised
by

relationality,
systems-thinking,
place-based

emancipation

as
