Transformative innovation policies are gaining currency worldwide, but have been mainly studied in a Global North context and the energy sector. This paper focuses empirically on Costa Rica's Climate Smart Agriculture policy mix. It addresses key knowledge gaps dynamics of transformative development agrifood sector South context. Results show mix's potential was inhibited by weak implementation capacity internal external incoherence between sectors governance levels, leading to tensions resulting from policy-element interactions such as conflicting goals interventions with overlapping purposes. The broader implication for theory practice is that successful mixes require close scrutiny both balance mix how fundamentally transform includes paying more attention phasing out legacy instruments countries' particular institutional contexts cultures influence policymaking implementation.

Abstract A wealth of scholarly work has contributed to make visible and describe the place indigenous peoples knowledge in sustainability transitions. In this paper, we use a decolonial lens to reflect on place-based transdisciplinary Nature-based Solutions (NbS) research project that focussed the multifunctional retrofitting of stormwater detention pond through coproduction in Mitchells' Plain, Cape Town. We find ponds represent promising yet contested leverage points for coproducing NbS towards water resilience also 'scaling deep at margin' is an important initial condition experimenting with contexts difference. Abstract This paper interrogates the utility of a just transition framework for climate change and human wellbeing in context Aotearoa New Zealand. Drawing on historical conceptualisations applications transitions, their limitations potential, we argue that an expansive anti-reductionist conceptualisation is best suited to address complex inter-sectoral issues across time space. Expansive transitions are characterised by four features; relationality, systems-thinking, place-based inter-generational approaches, where emancipation held as overarching objective. While favour being employed face issues, such impacts change, introduce concept transformation : achieving true equity justice requires transformative approach, situated outside confines hegemonic economic system linear transitions. This article examines dams from a relational perspective, understanding them as hydrosocial infrastructures resulting interactions between actors, their mental models, institutions, and water flows.
