Sesquiterpene lactones, a vast range of terpenoids isolated from Asteraceae species, exhibit broad spectrum biological effects and several them are already commercially available, such as artemisinin. Here the most recent impactful results in vivo, preclinical clinical studies involving selection ten sesquiterpene lactones (alantolactone, arglabin, costunolide, cynaropicrin, helenalin, inuviscolide, lactucin, parthenolide, thapsigargin tomentosin) presented discussed, along with some their derivatives. In authors’ opinion, these compounds have been neglected compared to others, although they could be great use developing important new pharmaceutical products. The selected sesquiterpenes show promising anticancer anti-inflammatory effects, acting on various targets. Moreover, antifungal, anxiolytic, analgesic, antitrypanosomal activities. Several discussed here clearly potential that combination therapy, sensitizing agents facilitate enhance action drugs use. derivatives greater pharmacological value since better pharmacokinetics, stability, potency, and/or selectivity. All natural properties invite further research by scientific community.

The application of artemisinin (ART) in the treatment malaria has been restricted to a certain degree due its inherent limitations, such as short half-life, poor solubility, limited bioavailability, and re-crystallization. Electrospun nanofibers loaded with ART provide an excellent solution these limitations yield sustained drug release well inhibition In this study, ART-loaded polycaprolactone (PCL)/collagen (Col) different proportions polymers were prepared. PCL/Col characterized, further anti-crystallization behaviors studied. SEM was used observe morphology nanofibers. X-ray diffraction (XRD) characterize physical state Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), water contact angle measurement, weight loss, swelling, experiments can verify differences performance polymer ratios. curve analyzed by kinetics, showing for up 48 h, followed Fickian mechanism, which shown diffusion index value obtained from Korsmeyer-Peppas equation.

Chemotherapeutics play an important role in cancer treatment, but multidrug resistance severe adverse effects have already become the main causes failure tumor chemotherapy. Therefore, it is urgent need to develop novel chemotherapeutics. Cinnamic acid contains ubiquitous α,β‐unsaturated moiety presenting potential therapeutic treatment these derivatives could act on cells by diverse mechanisms action. Accordingly, cinnamic are critical scaffolds discovering anticancer agents. This review provides comprehensive overview hybrids The structure–activity relationship, well action, also discussed, covering articles published from 2012 2021.
