Abstract The presence of contaminants emerging concerns (CECs) such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products, endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs), per/poly‐fluorinated substances (PFAS), pesticides, nanomaterials poses significant challenges to the environment human health. This review discusses current status electrochemical sensing methods their potential low‐cost analytical platforms for detection characterization contaminants. Recent developments in advanced materials fabrication techniques electrophoretic deposition, layer‐by‐layer roll‐to‐roll 3D printing techniques, scalable manufacturing portable devices are discussed. Examples mechanisms, electrode modification procedures, device configuration, performance along with recent fundamental electrochemistry, particularly nanoimpact methods, provided demonstrate capabilities these environmental monitoring CECs. Finally, a critical discussion future research needs, challenges, opportunities is how electrochemistry can be used advance field chemicals. These complementary or alternative currently laboratory‐based instrumentation facilitate large‐scale studies manage risks associated CECs other matrices.

Water supplies around the world are currently heavily polluted by heavy-metal chemicals, synthetic dyes, and other toxic pollutants released major factories rather than typical household waste. This pollution necessitates adequate monitoring to protect natural water sources. There various wastewater treatment methods available, including nanotechnology, i.e., two dimensional (2D) nanomaterials. Rising 2D nanomaterials graphene, g-C 3 N 4 , MoS 2 MXene, black phosphorus, h-BN have exhibited an unparalleled surface-to-volume ratio, promising ultralow usage of material, ultrafast handling time, ultrahigh performance for cleaning, water. We provide a current overview tunable their uses in management. A brief description nanomaterials, types, synthesis strategies salient features involved management is provided. Furthermore, application nanomaterial different processes such as adsorption, filtration, disinfection, photocatalysis discussed detail. Likewise, potential be used quality gadgets like fluorescent sensors, colorimetric electrochemical field-effect transistors also explored. The study ends with look at problems, limitations future prospectus associated use material importance clean fresh upcoming generations will bring new light innovations this emerging sector, allowing it improve accessibility while ensuring global increasing part world.

The presence of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) in drinking waters might pose a serious threat to human health worldwide. Therefore, this study sought measure PhACs Danube-derived tap water from the Budapest metropolitan region (Hungary), and compare results those measured bank filtrate after which risk assessment (based on quotient [hRQ]) was conducted for detected PhACs. A total 108 samples were collected 21 sampling sites throughout 6 campaigns. Our screened 102 PhACs, 19 persistently chlorinated samples. PhAC concentrations much lower than previously assumed based contamination raw resources. mean concentration analyzed exceeded 30 ng L−1 only at 5 sites. Moreover, frequency occurrence (FRO) most common (carbamazepine, lamotrigine, lidocaine, benzoylecgonine, tramadol, cinolazepam) reached 50 % 4 frequent carbamazepine (FRO = 53.7 %), level all investigated negligible (hRQ<1) with having highest hRQs (hRQMAX 0.007; hRQMEAN 0.001). Tap provided farther abstraction wells treatment stations along Danube. travel time between taps other factors, such as varying microbiological pattern deposits supply system influence concentrations. Based assessment, consumers urban area.
