In this review, our objective was to analyze the association between serum magnesium (Mg) levels, Mg supplementation, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outcomes. This systematic review followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, searching major databases until February 2023. Twenty-six studies (11,363 patients) were included: 22 examining levels (8474 four investigating supplementations (2889 patients). Most indicated an lower increased COVID-19 severity, including higher mortality rates prolonged recovery periods. Critical patients demonstrated significantly compared moderate/severe cases. However, some reported conflicting findings, with hypermagnesemia also associated poor outcomes in specific patient populations. Regarding dietary intake correlated shorter hospitalization duration faster recovery. supplementation exceeding 450 mg showed potential benefits, antibody titers pregnant women reduced oxygen support requirements elderly when combined vitamins D B12. While evidence suggests a relationship status outcomes, findings are heterogeneous. Further investigation through well-designed clinical trials is required gain deeper insights into role of pathophysiology therapeutic supplementation.

Magnesium plays an important role in many physiological functions. Habitually low intakes of magnesium and general the deficiency this micronutrient induce changes biochemical pathways that can increase risk illness and, particular, chronic degenerative diseases. The assessment status is consequently great importance, however, its evaluation difficult. measurement serum concentration most commonly used readily available method for assessing status, even if levels have no reliable correlation with total body or concentrations specific tissues. Therefore, review offers overview recent insights into from multiple perspectives. Starting a point view, it aims at highlighting due to insufficient uptake (frequently content modern western diet), suggesting strategies reach recommended dietary reference values, focusing on importance detecting pathological various districts, order counteract social impact diseases linked deficiency.

So far, no coherent and convincing theory has been developed to fully explain the pathogenesis of migraine, although many researchers experts emphasize its association with spreading cortical depression, oxidative stress, vascular changes, nervous excitement, neurotransmitter release, electrolyte disturbances.
