According to the research, obesity is associated with hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes mellitus, which are grouped as metabolic syndrome. Notably, under obese status, adipocyte could accumulate excessive lipid droplets (LDs), leading dysfunctional fat mass. Recently, emerging evidence has shown that cell death-inducing DNA fragmentation factor 45-like effector protein (CIDE) family played an important role in regulating metabolism. In addition, diverse CIDE proteins were also confirmed influence intracellular metabolism, such within adipocyte, hepatocyte, macrophage. Nevertheless, results showed regulatory of significantly contradictory from vitro experiments vivo clinical studies. Similarly, recent studies have changed perception these proteins, redefining them regulators droplet dynamics contribute a healthy phenotype humans. However, underlying mechanisms by alter metabolism not elucidated. current review, understandings catabolism well-summarized. On other hand, relatively proposed for further family.
