The UNESCO World Heritage Centre announced in 2011 that the Wadi Rum Protected Area (WRPA) is a global landmark for natural and cultural attraction, which represents an emerging industrial suburban critical socio-economic significance to country of Jordan. study area located northeast Gulf Aqaba between African Arabian plates. region historically characterized by significant tectonic activity seismic events. This focuses on characterizing subsurface structural features through application geophysical method controlled-source audio-frequency magnetotellurics (CSAMT). CSAMT data were collected from 16 sounding stations, processed, qualitatively interpreted. qualitative interpretation involved two main approaches: constructing curves each station generating apparent resistivity maps at fixed depths (frequencies). results revealed presence least four distinct layers. surface layer exhibited relatively low values (<200 Ω·m), corresponding alluvial wadi sediments, as well mud flats. Two intermediate layers identified: first showed very (80–100 likely due medium-grained bedded sandstone, while second displayed (100–800 representing coarse basal conglomerates sandstone formations. deepest demonstrated high (>1000 attributed basement rocks. Analysis maps, combined with prior geological information, indicates graben-like structure, detected faults trending (NE) southwest (SW) directions. findings this study, providing insights into make considerable contribution urban sustainability region, necessary careful assessment potential hazards strategic planning future infrastructure development within protected area.
