In the digital age, human-algorithm interaction has become ubiquitous. The popularity of short-form video apps led to greater access and experience with algorithmic recommender systems, but it also exposed their potential problems dark sides. However, there is still limited knowledge about side over-recommendation from perspective user perception, especially regarding negative impact on users' psychology behavior. Drawing social cognitive theory, this study constructed a theoretical model investigate how information environment factors influence dissonance discontinuance intention under antecedent dimension perceived over-recommendation. was tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling 322 valid questionnaires users Chinse mass short (eg, Douyin). results showed that when over-recommendation, narrowing, redundancy, overload, privacy invasion significantly increased dissonance, ultimately leading intention. Notably, fully mediated relationship between intention, self-efficacy did not play significant moderating role. Additionally, local path effects varied across groups different characteristics. To maintain sustainability platforms, crucial explore moderate recommendation mechanisms. User-centered functionality improvements differentiated behavioral interventions can help mitigate among users.
