The supply of the heat required for chemical processes via renewable electricity, i.e., process electrification, provides an alternative strategy replacing conventional fossil fuel combustion. This approach enables fast, selective, and uniform heating, offers great potential utilizing excess electric energy, brings about important chance mitigating CO2 emissions. In this work, we provide overview state-of-the-art electricity-to-heat driven catalytic processes. principle fundamentals Joule heating are provided briefly compared to induction microwave in view electrifying By comparison, assess that can be regarded as most promising method its applications methane reforming, cracking reactions, valorization, transient operation then reviewed. Advantages disadvantages critically addressed terms efficiency, scale-up possibility retrofitting. current challenges development advanced electrified well opportunities next generation electrification techniques discussed.

Abstract A coordinated scheduling model based on two-stage distributionally robust optimization (TSDRO) is proposed for integrated energy systems (IESs) with electricity-hydrogen hybrid storage. The problem of the IES divided into two stages in TSDRO-based model. first stage addresses day-ahead optimal under deterministic forecasting information, while second uses a method to determine intraday rescheduling high-order uncertainties, building upon results stage. also considers collaboration among electricity, thermal, and gas networks, focusing economic operation carbon emissions. flexibility these networks gradient utilization hydrogen units during are incorporated To improve computational efficiency, nonlinear formulations properly linearized obtain Mixed-Integer Linear Programming Column-Constraint Generation (C&CG) algorithm then employed decompose master subproblems. Through iterative solution subproblems, an efficient analysis achieved. Finally, effectiveness verified through case studies. simulation demonstrate that can effectively accomplish task considering uncertainty system. Compared traditional methods, better balance conservativeness robustness.
