The rapid growth of photovoltaic (PV) installed capacity has driven advancements in technology, such as integrating PV panels into building envelopes. Temperature increases are known to negatively impact panel performance. This study investigates and optimizes the design air-based cooling systems for roofs using experimental numerical analyses, leveraging free natural convection cooling. Experimental measurements included air inlet/outlet, panel, roof surface temperatures. primary parameters examined Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) were heights widths channels between rooftop, with ranging from 25 mm 75 varying 200 400 mm. There good agreements results after model validation. reveal significant temperature non-uniformity across panels, a maximum difference 16.50 °C. shading effect resulted an average reduction by 12.90 Parametric studies showed that changes height had more pronounced on than width. optimal was identified channel size × mm, resulting lowest 65.21 °C enhanced uniformity, efficiency reaching 11.54%.
