Summary Kerogen is the most abundant form of organic matter in subsurface and its properties adsorption, wettability, geomechanics affect gas (H2, He, CH4, CO2) geo-storage (GGS) capacity leakage risk. However, impact H2, CH4 CO2 exposure on kerogen wettability geomechanical characteristics at in-situ GGS conditions still unclear, thus large uncertainties exist evaluating integrity. Therefore herein, were investigated experimentally conditions, based isothermal contact angle, nanoindentation measurements. It demonstrated that (1) maximum adsorption for 0.3789, 3.5360, 5.2625 mol/kg, respectively (occurring various thermophysical conditions), following order H2 < CO2; (2) ranges from weakly water-wet to gas-wet with affinity gases He CH4; (3) after H2O 3 minutes liquid 5 minutes, Young’s modulus decreases by 45, 32, 1, 50, 70% respectively, while pellet disintegrates supercritical minutes. This study provides key data GGS, an important pathway accelerating energy transition, promoting advanced technology development, balancing supply demand, mitigating carbon emissions.
