The global building sector plays a pivotal role in addressing sustainability, climate change, and carbon neutrality. This study introduces the original concept of virtual models (VBMs) throughout lifecycle industry, considering unique characteristics this industry. VBMs are defined as mathematical that represent physical behavior buildings their lifecycle. These consist subvirtual operational environments target building, encompassing variables, equipment, systems, indoor environments, structural material behaviors. can contribute to achieving existing concepts information modeling, digital twins, cyber-physical systems within operations, communities, environments. In study, categorized into five aspects: model types, interactions, integrations, levels detail (LODs). LODs classified (LOD100, LOD200, LOD300, LOD350, LOD400) depending on primary coverage across entire building. Virtual modeling methodologies proposed aspects achieve higher or intended LOD states from both academic industrial perspectives. Finally, future research directions discussed drive shape industry through transformations.

The reduction of harmful emissions is shaping trends across many industries, including architecture and building. With rising ecological awareness the threat climate change, architects, construction engineers, developers are focusing on innovative solutions to minimize sector’s environmental impact. This paper presents a technical management approach system using renewable energy sources, based an existing single-family house with known consumption. aim achieve independence by relying solely on-site electricity generation storage, while remaining connected water sewage infrastructure. Utilizing sources enhances self-sufficiency investment profitability. study evaluates house’s consumption optimally select supply solutions, small wind farm photovoltaic installation integrated appropriate storage. crucial due air heat pump used for heating domestic hot water, which requires electricity. An hourly simulation system’s operation over year verified adequacy selected devices. Additionally, two different locations were analyzed assess how varying conditions influence design performance off-grid systems. analysis showed that solar systems can meet annual demand, but limited storage capacity prevents full autonomy. Replacing biomass boiler reduces use about 25% battery needs 40%, though seasonal surpluses remain challenge. concept aligns goal achieving neutrality 2050.

Abstract Renewable chemicals, which are made from renewable resources such as biomass, have attracted significant interest substitutes for natural gas‐ or petroleum‐derived chemicals to enhance the sustainability of chemical and petrochemical industries. Polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), is a copolyester 1,4‐butanediol (1,4‐BDO), adipic acid (AA), dimethyl (DMT) terephthalic (TPA), has garnered biodegradable polymer. This study assesses non‐biological production PBAT monomers biomass feedstocks via heterogeneous catalytic reactions. The biomass‐based routes each monomer analyzed compared conventional routes. Although no fully commercialized processes direct conversion into 1,4‐BDO, AA, DMT, TPA available, emerging promising been proposed. proposed pathways toward not yet competitive with fossil fuel‐based mainly due high feedstock prices existence other alternatives. However, given continuous technological advances in monomers, bio‐based should be economically viable near future.
