Achieving a decarbonized built environment by 2050 requires significant advancements in building renovation strategies, with strong emphasis on energy efficiency and emissions reduction. This study examined the compliance of buildings renovated between 2015 2022 national performance regulations. While many have undergone improvements, substantial portion still fail to meet stricter, current requirements, particularly terms window floor insulation, highlighting need for further retrofit measures. Comparing static dynamic simulation models reveals that frequently overestimate savings, leading misaligned investment decisions. Dynamic simulations, incorporating real-time climate interactions transient thermal behaviors, provide more accurate assessment demand improvements. A financial analysis indicates often predict unrealistically short payback periods, potentially resulting suboptimal investments. To decarbonization goals, future strategies must integrate advanced methodologies, strengthen regulatory oversight, enhance incentives comprehensive renovations. data-driven approach is essential ensure retrofits achieve meaningful savings contribute neutrality. Strengthening frameworks promoting standardized practices will be key bridging gap expected actual performance, ensuring sustainable resilient environment.

This study addresses the critical challenge of performing a detailed calculation energy savings in buildings by implementing suitable actions aiming at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Given high consumption buildings’ space heating systems, optimizing their performance is crucial for overall primary demand. Unfortunately, calculations such are often based on extremely simplified methods, neglecting dynamics emitters installed inside buildings. These approximations may lead to relevant errors estimation possible savings. In this framework, present presents novel 0-dimensional capacitive model radiator, most common emitter used residential The final scope paper integrate within TRNSYS 18simulation environment, 1-year simulation building-space system. radiator developed MATLAB 2024b and it carefully considers impact surface area, inlet temperature, flow rate performance. Moreover, dynamic heat transfer compared with one returned built-in non-capacitive available TRNSYS, showing that effect radiators leads an incorrect consumption. During winter season, system turned from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. 6 p.m., thermal underestimated roughly 20% commonly model.

Dynamic simulations can accurately estimate the thermal demands for space heating and cooling in buildings, as well energy economic performance of specific refurbishment actions. This study aims to evaluate savings resulting from adoption particular measures applied a cluster residential condominium also considering some possible Italian funding policies. To this scope, dynamic simulation models several buildings with different features terms geometry, shape, thermo-physical properties are considered. The selected representative most common city Naples, Southern Italy. Two scenarios regarding penetration actions considered: “25% scenario”, where 25% Naples municipality adopt measures, “100% all such results simulations, reported over time periods, compare economic, energy, environmental benefits measures. evaluates replacement conventional natural gas-fired boilers condensing boilers, use insulation on external walls buildings. primary demand decreased by 28% when proposed were implemented municipality.
