China has commenced a high-quality development phase, necessitating significant promotion of the digital economy (DE), which includes green advancement as its foundation. Transitioning from DE into requires advancing concept new quality productivity (NQP), unequivocally delineates direction Chinese socio-economic progress. Therefore, this study developed indicator model encompassing three components aligning with NQP: (i) scientific and technological, (ii) green, (iii) productivity. The analysis investigated crucial role NQP in achieving “double carbon” goal within by utilizing panel data 30 provinces between 2012 2022. Consequently, substantially reduced carbon emissions (CEs) exhibited notable spatial spillover effect. impact coefficient on CEs is −0.0583, at 1% level. direct effect indirect revealed that inhibition regional was −0.0725 −0.0964, respectively (significant level). heterogeneity outcomes denoted lower non-resource-based regions due to DE. Nevertheless, process did not exhibit same resource-based regions. Furthermore, functioned intermediary factor correlation CEs. This outcome then led critical recommendations: complete release dividend, enhanced government attention toward low-carbon environmental protection, establishment technology innovation platform achieve higher rates development.
